Rockdale County Autism Support Group will give back to the community in partnership with the United Way of Metro Atlanta through the 10th Annual Shoebox Project!
Awesome family project! Gather your old shoe boxes, craft supplies and family and decorate the boxes. Then, fill them with toiletries for women and children (details below.)
Bring your filled shoe boxes to the monthly Parent Support meetings (March 19 and/or April 16.) If you have no shoe boxes, feel free to bring filler items.
United Way of Greater Atlanta is celebrating the 10th year of its annual Shoebox Project!
Each year, individuals and organizations throughout Greater Atlanta donate shoeboxes filled with toiletries, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, shampoo, sanitary items, pocket-sized tissue, band-aids, bar soap, deodorant and lip balm, which are distributed to women and children at homeless shelters throughout the 13-county region United Way serves.
The campaign runs March 1 to May 1, 2015. Shoeboxes will be delivered by FedEx to more than 100 agencies on Mother’s Day. Last year, more than 44,000 shoeboxes, valued at $855,000, were collected and donated to homeless women and children!
And we can do more!
This year’s Shoebox Project has even more ways to help:
- Fill a shoebox, top and bottom wrapped separately, with a combination of new, unopened item. After you wrap and fill your shoeboxes, drop them off at your local United Way office and other locations. If you have more than 150 shoeboxes, United Way will schedule a pickup of the boxes through FedEx as a courtesy. The last day to schedule a pickup is April 17.
- Spread the word. Forward this email to your friends, tweet (#ShoeboxATL) or post about the United Way Shoebox Project on Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Volunteer your time to sort shoeboxes.
