GOALSoccer (Georgia Outreach Advancing the Lives of those with Special Needs) is a philanthropy organization at Georgia Tech that is partnered with Special Olympics Georgia to give children with special needs in the Atlanta area the opportunity to experience the value of team sports through the game of soccer.
We have a team of Georgia Tech student volunteers who are recruited, interviewed, and selected by the GOALS Executive Board to serve as ‘buddies’ to the special needs players. They participate in training prior to the season given by the Special Olympics of Georgia regional manager.
Practices are held on Sundays beginning September 27th from 11:00AM – 12:00PM. Practice include warm-up games and stretching, Special Olympics Summer Games specific soccer drills, and a small sided scrimmage to wrap up practice.
