Does Bullying Belong in an IEP?

Did you know in both the U.S. and the U.K. bullying can be addressed in your child’s IEP (Individualized Education Program)?  Bullying is a special education issue when it involves disability-based harassment because a disability can often prevent a child on the spectrum from responding in an appropriate way when being treated cruelly, according to Special Education Attorney Jennifer Laviano.  That’s why it’s so important to get your child’s classroom teacher, school psychologist and other therapists to work together to help your child learn both coping mechanisms as well as appropriate responses.
