Runners, we wouldn’t be able to complete our puzzle piece without you! With autism becoming the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the US with 1 in 68 children diagnosed, Autism Speaks is looking to raise awareness while having a great time at the 5th Annual Autism Speaks 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, November 12th 2016 in Piedmont Park. So lace up those running shoes for an event that mean so much more than just 3.1 miles. Recruit friends and family for your teams and get ready to run, walk or virtual run for a great cause!

When
Saturday, November 12th, 2016
7:30am: Packet Pick Up Opens
8:30am: Pre-Race Warm Up
9:00am: 5k Race Begins

Where: Piedmont Park, 1320 Monroe Dr NE Atlanta, GA 30306

Start/Finish: Located near Charles Allen Entrance of Piedmont Park.

Parking: Parking is available in the Parking Lot next to Park Tavern, 10th street and surrounding neighborhoods, and the Parking Deck. Event Participants are responsible for their own parking fees.

During the race: Autism Speaks information table, t-shirt table, vendor tables and merchandise will remain open during the race.

Registration information: Online registration will close at 8PM, EST on Friday, November 11th. Day of registration is available via cash, credit card and check. *Performance & walker t-shirt is not guaranteed for participants who sign up after price increase, October 14th.

Entry Fee for 5k Run: Performance T-shirt + Chip time
$25 until July 10th
$35 July 11 – October 14th
$40 October 15 – November 11*

$35 Virtual Runner – Performance T-shirt + run on your own time/place *
Children Under 6 years of age – Free (No t-shirt/chip time)

*Performance t-shirt not guaranteed if registered after October 14th.

Virtual 5k: We are strongly encouraging runners and walkers who can’t be with us at Piedmont Park, GA on Saturday, November 12th to compete and/or participate in our “Virtual 5k”. Virtual Runners must register via the website, and will receive their performance shirt in advance to join us virtually on November 12th. You can run and raise money for autism anywhere! Virtual runners are encourage to snap a photo in their t-shirt with run location and e-mail to Georgia@autismspeaks.org, post to our Facebook wall and/or tweet @autismspeaksga. The virtual 5k deadline to receive the performance shirt prior to race day is October 14th, 2016; Virtual Runners who register after this date will receive their shirt after November 12th.

Race Details

Prohibited: For safety reasons, the following are not permitted in the 5k: skates, bikes, motorized scooters, pets (non-service animals). We ask that those who wish to participate with wheelchairs, strollers, bike joggers to remain near the back of the 5k race.

Course: The 5k course runs through beautiful Piedmont Park with minimal grade hills. Water will be available at the start/finish and the half-way point. This course is not certified.

Timing & Results: Provided by Orion Racing using disposable B-tag timing technology. Race results will be posted on the home page of the event website after the completion of the Georgia 5k.

*Race times will be announced for overall winners at race site. Awards directly to follow completion of Georgia 5k.

Fundraising: Every participant is encouraged to fundraise. Participants who raise over $168 will receive a prize swag item after the race is completed. Fundraising is critical to continue to support the mission of Autism Speaks.

Photos: Race day photos will be posted on the Autism Speaks Georgia Facebook Page completing the event.
Teams: Teams take on the spirit of the day as family, friends and coworkers join together to have fun and help raise awareness for autism. Organize friends, family, schools, place of worship, community organization or get your company involved! Choose a team name and captain or co-captains. Each team member (adult and child) is asked to set a minimum fundraising goal of $168 but we always encourage more! Make checks payable to Autism Speaks and mailed to 900 Circle 75 Parkway, Suite 445, Atlanta, GA 30339. All participants can collect donations in advance and bring to Georgia 5k on November 21st.
